Teaching

 

Volunteer teachers and interns are â€‹needed to teach and take up internship positions in our charity, special and regular schools (kindergarten and Primary) in Anfoega and Alavanyo both in the Volta Region and in our jungle school in Pakro in the Eastern Region.​

Interns can also learn, study and practice with us for their school projects and research works under the guidance of a professional teacher.

​

Tasks:

  • General Class assistance

  • Teaching Maths and Foreign language including English Language.

  • Teaching & managing children with special needs.

  • Creative Art

  • Music

  • Sports etc

 

Schools teaching periods are between;

September - December - FIRST TERM

January - April  - SECOND TERM

May - August     - THIRD TERM

Health Project – Intern and volunteering positions.

The health project is a hospital and community based interactive initiative and care delivery program aimed to ease the pressure of local healthcare providers who are serving a large population with limited resources, and most importantly to provide quality healthcare to the people living in less privileged and remote areas. To achieve this goal, we seek help from both local and international volunteers, interns, and professionals who are willing to learn, train, teach and share useful ideas.

Positions are available in all areas of healthcare in order to help strengthen our healthcare delivery system. Positions are available throughout the year and arrangements can be made to suit the volunteer’s schedule. In case of an internship, the exact content and duration will depend on the student’s institutional policies and the hospitals they are assigned.


WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
 - Nursing and medical students or students in any other health related field who want to conduct an internship abroad.
 - Nursing and medical students or students in any other health related field who want to gain experience though doing volunteer work abroad.
- Healthcare professionals with a valid license from their home country who are interested in working abroad. 

 

REQUIREMENTS
- You are flexible and open minded.
- You have strong communication skills  
- You write and speak English reasonably well
           

LOCATIONS
The health project is carried out in the Volta Region. Depending on availability and preferences, volunteering positions are available in hospitals, schools and homes on the next locations:
            - Ho
            - Kpando
            - Dzodze
            - Anfoega
            - Hohoe


ACTIVITIES
The tasks and activities carried out by volunteers depend on their profession and interests. Healthcare can be delivered in hospitals, schools, and homes. If possible, outreaches will be organized to provide care to people living in remote areas.

In general, nursing volunteers will run the regular working hours shifts, they will interact, observe and deliver care when necessary and permissible. They will participate in clinical meetings, ward rounds and outreach sessions.

[Certified Registered Anaesthetist]


The clinical coordination of the health project is executed by a Certified Registered Anesthetist (CRA). He has gathered extensive working experience in the fields of general nursing, community health nursing, psychiatry nursing, and theatre nursing. Furthermore, he has experience with supervising volunteers over the years. Currently, he is practicing as a CRA in one of our four contact hospitals.
Besides his clinical work, the project coordinator has been a partner and contributor of the Afframsikpa Children Foundation. As is he responsible for the Afframsikpa Health Projects, he will be coordinating most activities of volunteers during their time in Ghana. 


All volunteers involved in the Health Project will work under direct supervision of healthcare project coordinator. Social Works

​

This position is for interns and volunteers who want to help underprivileged individuals and or families in our targeted communities in an effort to enhance their social functioning and overall well-being.  Interns can also take up research opportunities or launch projects.

Interns will work under the supervision of a professional.

Tasks:

  • General care for children and social work at the home.

  • Managing the affairs of Children's home.

  • Guiding children in their daily activities.

  • Identifying and solving problems relating to the children.

Volunteers and Interns can choose to volunteer for ONE MONTH - FIVE MONTHS.

But volunteers are expected to pay for their living and accommodation costs.

​

The package includes;

Pick up from Accra airport to hotel/accommodation, three meals a day, water, orientation and guidance from ASCF co-coordinator and staff members throughout your stay.

1. Volunteers must be in the best of  mind/heart and willing to get involved wherever needed.

 

2. At the end of a volunteering period, certificates are awarded.

 

3. On weekends and vacations, volunteers can take a stroll to some beautiful and irresistible tourist sites for their relaxation.

ABOUT PAKRO

​

Pakro is a village under the Akuapim South Municipal. The capital town is Nsawam. The four major villages close to the Pakro are Adoagyiri, Dago, Pokrom and Panpanso. Residents of the district depend on the River Densu for water supply. 30 % of the population depends on pipe-born water treated by the Ghana water company at the municipal water treatment plant.

 

Surrounded by forests, most of the residents are farmers and hunters.  The people of Pakro are friendly and cheerful their main dialects are Twi and Ewe. The temperature is mostly warm during the day and cool at night. 

ABOUT VAKPO & ANFOEGA

​

Vakpo is a village in the North Dayi district, a district with Anfoega as the district capital in the Volta region of Ghana.  Vakpo (New Adomi) is a town by a lake, which the residents use for fishing and farming. Their source of water supply is the lake and boreholes.  People of Vakpo and Anfoega are very hospitable. The language spoken there is Ewe. It’s also mostly warm and cool during day and night respectively.

ABOUT ALAVANYO

​

Alavanyo is a community made up of seven towns in Hohoe Municipality.

It's 15Km from Kpando to the south and 35km to Hohoe in the North.

 

More than 80% of the population depends on treated pipe-born water.

 

Alavanyo is surrounded by forests and beautiful mountains, It is also home to Tsatsadu waterfalls in Alavanyo. Most of the residents are farmers and hunters.  The people of Alavanyo are friendly and cheerful their main dialect is Ewe. The temperature is mostly warm during the day and cool at night.

Alavanyo is also recovering from a century old protracted land conflict and will be grateful for your support to recuperate.
